Do you remember the Japanese hiker who walked though Fairbanks out to Prudhoe Bay? Well, he made it all the way to the end of the road:

I'm reading a book about a guy that takes his dog on a walk from Valdez to Prudhoe Bay following the pipeline.

Does he throw a tarp over the pipe to make a tent or lean-to? That's the first thing that came to mind, and it seems like a good idea.

So far he's been using a tent.

You'd need a big tarp! The pipe is huge and usually over head above ground. Might be warm to just lay on it tho. Plus they do regular fly overs and would probably throw a fit if they saw a tarp thrown over the line. They'd be right there wondering if someone was tapping into the line!

I did wonder about that, if it would even be legal or not.
