So true. Heaves are hard on horses anyway, when they are tired and relaxed it will be ever more tough on them.

I can't stretch it out 8 days, I'm going for 5 if all goes well. I have a nice rig so I don't foresee any trouble. I figure 10 hours a days should about do it. I pulled a horse 12 hours the other day, I was tired as heck but the horse took it fine.
I'll do a little more research (Alaska Horse Journal) and find some places to keep the horses at night, that will go along ways to keeping the stock fresh.

This trip wont be until next summer. I wish it were sooner but work has to come first.
