Gramma, Rance and the others are right, your kitchen, not unlike you outhouse decorating style is to die for, simple, collectible stuff, but not cluttered and the open shelves and your cabinets are to die for, and your tilework....

Gram have to chime in and agree with everyone your kitchen is great.
Love the open shelving and my particular fave...the teapot!
A sign of a warm and comfortable home to me is a kettle on the stove.

Okay you guys, you've given me no choice but to show off a bit. After living a free-floating life in my little shack on a log raft for years time came when my grandkids needed me and I had to "land".
I talked the bank into enough money to buy the last piece of land available on the island where I could park my floathouse and begin work on a 'real' home. The property had a 24x24 shack, abandoned for about 20 years, full of garbage, drywall rotten and falling down, totally disgusting which the bank & seller both decided was of no value, a "tear down". Little did they know I recognize a dry stud when I see one, so with the help of my kids and newfound sweetie pie I parked my floathouse on the beach and went to work. That was 10 years ago, holey cow, time flies when you're having fun! - here's what I bought:

I hired a neighbor who set his little sawmill out front and we cut trees in the back and milled all the wood I would need. Didn't have electricity out here at the time so all work had to be done with my tired old generator. If one was using the skill saw and another the drill, we had to take turns.
Here's what it looks like today:

And my favorite, the breakfast nook:

It is gorgeous!!!I like the wrap around deck and with the wide steps going up. We need to do something with the outside of ours, it already has some strips but they're on that paneling type siding stuff. Love your nook, but I see the edge of a red stool. I have one just like that I got from my gramma, that used to be my favorite to sit on in her kitchen many, many, many...moons ago

That old red stool is a favorite of my grands too. They fight over who gets to sit on it. It belonged to a friend's mother, he is in his late 70's so who know how old the stool is. I just love old things, not for the 'antique' value, but because they have a soul. While digging for medicine roots several years ago I found a beautiful ladle made from the horn of a dall sheep. An old Native friend told me it had to have been traded to the Tlingets here from the Taltan Indians way upriver in Canada long before white man came in the territory. He described how they would steam it, shape it and smooth it with horsetail herb. A true labor of love. It has it's own special place in the kitchen - I use it often and think of the woman who used it before me and left it for me to find all these years later.
Get sentimental in my old age.
