Default Moving Amarillo, Tx to Valdez, Ak

Hi all,

My wife and I are moving to Valdez from Amarillo tx. Her new job will be helping to pay for the move but I would still like to do it the most effiecient way possible. Any suggestions would be helpful. A moving company by land? By sea? I planned on driving my truck and rv up but just need to get the household items to valdez. I was hoping there might be a way to put everything in a sea container and ship to CA and then by boat to Valdez. Please any help would be great.

Captain Crunch could answer this better than I can, because I can't remember the name of the barge company he uses and I am sure that he can. Maybe he'll see this and post it. I think it leaves from Seattle.

How much stuff do you have to take? You could just throw it all in the back of your truck and take the ferry.

Any of the National/Major moving companies will either take the goods there or have a subcontractor moving company do it for them.

Not a big issue if the company is paying for your move. If it is, then I can give you some other ideas on getting the stuff to there.

Great place, lived there for three and a half years, you WILL need a snowmachine and good snow shovel too...

If you move before June 1st, you don't need a passport. After that date a passport is needed. Also, if you have an enhanced driver's license, that will be sufficient.

We traveled thru a couple months ago to Valcourt Canada and they asked for passports and said if we didn't have them it would detain us and possibly be denied. We cross through several times a year and for many years..this was the first time they asked for passports...they explained it doesn't matter what he regulation are going to be, it is the descretion of the person on duty!! Fortunately I had them with us. not worth taking the chance..
