Default stealth

Yup, it's those "stealth" helicopters that the yahoos up at 26 mile are always whinging about. The ones that ONLY they can seem to see...somehow...

Here's another one, from an angle that you don't often see.

This is a photo of a helo loading the last oily waste at the end of summer before the storms move in. We took it off the remote beaches that boats couldn't access. They landed by helo and cleaned from there. It was from the Selendang Ayu freighter that broke in half out by Dutch Harbor.

Crews on the beach hooked the bags up, then the pilot brought them to the ship and the guys unhooked them on the fantail of the boat. Pretty impressive flying, he wasn't that far above the exhaust stacks in a pretty brisk wind. We had to be sideways to the wind so he could come straight into the wind.

In the third photo, you can see the freighter's stern section sitting there with no bow on the rocks... That fall, it was blown off the rocks and is now gone.

Not a good day in Nenana today... A Maul and a Cessna 170 both ground looped within a few min's of each other while landing, appears nobody was badly hurt, but the planes were...

The Cessna getting craned onto a trailer on the ski/grass strip

Maul after being taken to the tiedown area...

Bit windy today, but was out flying around Anchorage playing a bit. Took photos though the prop, but they look like blinds instead of the prop from the way the digital camera works...

Great photos.

What time were you up? I was up from about 10-11:30. It was just starting to get bumpy by the end.

It was about seven in the evening, it was mostly just around the pond at Lake Hood. Plane was getting checked out to see if the repaired oil leak was leaking, it was good.

Nice.

I am going to buy a share in a Cherokee 140 so I can just go cruising here soon.

Sounds like a plan! Just hope on the nice days you want to fly, the other shareholders don't want to be up too!
