Default Alaska Weather in May

I'm cruising to Alaska on May 17th, will stop in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchan. What kind of weather, temperature can I expect? Is it changeable like where I live or more consistant?

People on my cruise are talking about Terrain boots, is that really needed?

You will be in a ship. Nothing to worry about. Don't shop where the ship tells you to. The money doesn't go to the communities, it goes back to the cruise companies.

Get some GoreTex trail runners. You can walk all day long, they're light, and they can handle the occasional puddle. Don't go overboard with your footwear, the most difficult obstacle you'll be facing is an unpainted curb.

+1 on supporting Alaskan owned business. The only thing the cruise lines leave in Alaska is poop.

Is Ketchikan...Probably rainy and wet....Bring raincoat....don't wear sandals...If you get off the boat..ship....Wear sneakers...you will probably be fine....beware of rip offs in the shops off the cruise....

A cruise is not the way to see real Alaska....you checked in too late, you have paid for it now....

I wonder if shops in SE Alaska have "locally owned an operated" on the front doors? Keep an eye out for shops like this, Alaskans will be proud of you if you shop locally.

A cruise is not the way to see anything unless say you are going to a place like Antarctica on a specific mission such as a photography expedition, research etc. Cruises are good if you want to put on weight and have lots of sex.

Are you going on Celebrity Millenium???

I'm going on an Alaskan cruise in May too.

Ironic thing is I live in Alaska lol, but a cruise is worth it just for the food and other travelers.
