Too bad there are no classes in common sense, which can be much more useful than book sense. In an ideal situation, common sense and book sense could be great tools

What has happened? Nothing has happened. That's the way it's always been. Hate has nothing to do with it. The oil companies aren't out "thumping" the ocean floor because they hate indigenous people. They do it because that is what one culture defines as the greater good.
We live on a planet of finite resources. Life has always competed for those resources to survive. Human history and culture is no different. Human societies compete for dominance and survival no different than any other species. Have indigenous cultures suffered due to the advancement of western societies? Of course. To the dominant society, it looks like progress and prosperity. To the weaker it appears they are getting the shaft. But the overall paradigm isn't driven by hate. It's driven by survival. Given a pool of finite resources, conflict and competition are inevitable facts of life.

Wrong. This is exactly what he said on Sep. 12, 2008, in Dover, NH:

I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes. You will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime.
|
Then the very first law he signs massively increases taxes on every smoker, by more than 2,000% in some cases. Nice try to spin, but your kool-aid induced lies don't cut it.

Jumpin' jimmie crickets. I'd put my son's genius level IQ up against Obama's anyday. My kid is so freaking book smart and an intellectual to boot. But that doesn't make him have one lick of common 'sense. Which he doesn't have. When the needle on the gas tank hits "E" that means it's empty. Every single time.
That's your beloved Barry Obama. The nations financial gas tank is on EMPTY. Instead of trying to figure out how to fill it up Obama just wants us all to push it with him at the wheel. Never stopping for gas. You just keep pushing and he'll keep spending. Your tax rates will hit 50% and it won't be enough.
Doesn't matter how book smart or intellectual you think they are. If they don't have enough common sense to come in out of the rain you probably shouldn't put too much trust in them.

I once had a person say to me. I need to read a book to learn how to read a tape measure.
I want to know, how is Obama going to feel when he goes from the White House - to the Jail House - on to the Nut House.
So far, he has spent close to 2 million to squash any attempts to unseal his records. worlnetdaily.com has much proof of who this phoney guy is.
The dumbest thing any one has ever done, is to place their hand on a bible and swear an oath to God Almighty to Uphold and defend the Constitution. I fear that the only thing 'sealed' is Obama's fate.

Either you are just not wanting to see the bigger picture or you just haven't researched. 98% of Americans will pay less in Federal Income Tax. Why don't you mention the $8000 tax credit for 1st-time home buyers, my friend bought a house two months ago and he said it was easy to apply.
Did you think Bush was an honest guy? (rhetorical question)
We have to invest in all types of energy as Obama said. He didn't graduate at the bottom of his class, he is actually an intellectual, which is refreshing...it's been awhile.

And you are completely under the influence of the Obama's Kool Aid. There is not way Obama and his administration as well as Congress will lower taxes for 98% of Americans. That's not possible. What will happen is that all working Americans will have to pay more taxes to pay for over $3-trillion, on top of Bush's $1-trillion bailout. While you may not believe this to be true, the fact is that somebody has to pay for this enormous debt. As the Government bails-out everybody in sight, it speeds-up the dollar printing presses.

So what is the solution to the conflict between subsistence hunters and oil explorationists? Surely, with all the studies that have been done there must be a workable solution.
I don't hate the Inupiat nor would I want to stand in the way of their subsistence lifestyle. Shoot, if I stand in my wifes way she just throws the stink eye on me. During my time in Barrow I admired what they did. How they used all the modern tools at their disposal to continue their susbsistence activities.
Do you think they want to go back to a time before snowmachines and ATV's? Not likely. That was such a hard life back then. Since these things require petroleum and they have it where they live then it's not out of the question to ask them to make those resources available for use.
My great grandparent were wheat farmers, cattle ranchers and later oil and gas producers. They never sacrficed one for the other. Cattle grazed, wheat grew and pump jacks pulled the oil out of the earth. Thanks goodness those wells are still producing and royalty checks are still coming in.
Maybe all of us on CD-Alaska can solve the problem. I'm not sure anyone would listen to us loons but we could still work it out. Me and a buddy solved the nations financial crisis last week. We're working on global warming/cooling this week.

I agree...George W. Bush lol. Yes he graduated from Yale, but research the GPA he graduated with.
You may not agree with Obama's views, but you have to give it to the guy, he is an exceptionally intelligent person. Even most of my die hard Republican friends can admit that.
---
I think people forgot that the bailouts did not start with Obama, they started with the Bush Administration. I think people forgot we saw our deficit increase the most during the Bush Administration more than any other adminstration in our country's history. It's like an obese person (Bush) calling a fat person (Obama) out for eating to much food.
My family's business's best years was during the 2nd term of the Clinton Administration. People can argue all they want about common sense. I've experienced in my personal life the greatest increase in my family's and my own personal wealth during the Clinton Administration. I supported Bush in 2000, thought I would give him another chance, I believed the stuff he said, and experienced the largest decline in my family's wealth and my own personal wealth. I know there are thousands if not millions of other Americans who experienced the same thing. It's not all Bush's fault, but he failed as a president. He gave Al Quaida all the propaganda they need to recruit ignorant new members by the authorization of US torture. Don't get me started lol.
