I just learned this took place few days ago in Alaska:

The Inuit Circumpolar Council hosted April 20-24, 2009 in Anchorage, Alaska a Global Summit on Climate Change that brought together indigenous delegates and observers.

The purpose of the summit was to enable Indigenous peoples from all regions of the globe to exchange their knowledge and experience in adapting to the impacts of climate change, and to develop key messages and recommendations to be articulated to the world at the Conference of Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009.

Mother Earth is no longer in a period of climate change, but in climate crisis. We therefore insist on an immediate end to the destruction and desecration of the elements of life.

What in the world did people do when forest fires darkened the sky and covered Continent's with smoke carrying all sorts of carcinogens into the air... now of course they put them out, when they can...

Or when a volcano blew and covered the upper stratosphere with ash and darkened the sun for years.... Hey wait a minute, we got one here getting ready to blow again...

The planet is going to do what it is going to do, with or without us...
