If money was no object I would buy the entire Kenai peninsula and live there during the summer, and then move back to some big ranch surrounded by about 100 acres of wilderness in Montana.

Yeah, Sitka, Haines, Cordova, Petersburg, McCarthy, Wiseman, Eagle. Maybe somewhere outside Talkeetna, but it's getting pretty overrun in the summer these days. At least those are the towns that I feel most inspired by. But life requires some compromises; I don't like having ferry access only, or even being out at the end of a road. There's several places along the Richardson Highway that suit me just fine - here in Delta, Gakona, Tazlina, Copper Center, and especially Kenny Lake. Lots of good fish, lots of game, good soil, an interior climate, plus roads and trails leading into lots of lonely, interesting country to explore.

The question is as big as the state. I have been here 37 years and I cannot pick a single location, too many places have much to offer. I can say that it would be south of the Alaska Range and not in Anchorage/MatSu.

Money no object...I'd buy the town of McCarthy and blow up the bridge. Then rename it to Mooseville.

Bringing back memories. Too bad it was filmed in Washington State...
