Mode of moving to Ketchikan from Colordao
I just got a job in Ketchikan and will be moving in August from Colorado. I have contacted Allied moving company about moving my belongings (about 2 bdrms and hopefully 1 car) but was wondering if anyone had any other good sources for moving from the continental US to Alaska. Any help is appreciated!!

Your household will have to be shipped overland to Seattle then transfered to barge for shipment to Seattle. If the movers deliver your things to Northland or Alaska Marine Lines in Seattle, then the barge line will ship to you COD in Ketchikan. Check for rates at the barge lines, sometimes they're quite different.

I understand the process of moving items on a barge, but I was hoping to see if anyone had any good companies or websites to check out that provide these services. Thanks.

I don't understand what services you are looking for. Are you looking for a moving company to pick up and deliver your stuff to the house in Ketchikan after it gets there? You're going to have to hire movers to get it to seattle, I assume?
I don't know if Ketchikan has anyone providing such a service but we communities are small enough that if you emailed the Chamber of Commerce they'll do everything they can to find someone for you if that's what you're needing.
Personally I've always had to pack and lug my own junk. Of course if you stick it out in Alaska, your friends will be there to help you move in, celebrate your new house, sleep it off on your sofa and do it again when you move out. They'll also be the reason you have no food.
