Default Need Help From Horse Owners!

Hello Y'all! I'm back with even MORE questions for ya!
We had to leave our 2 miniature horses back in Spokane because when we came up in Jan, the weather was treacherous, to say the least.
Anyhow, I'm wanting them up here ASAP & was wondering if there are any good haulers you horsey folks might recommend?
Thanks so much for your time!

Also, FedEx. Seriously.

That's how Samson got here from the People's Republik of California.

Thanks y'all! And I agree, wow! Samson is GORGEOUS!!!
I downsized to mini's so my husband would stop complaining. I never got to ride my Paint mare anyway. All my KIDS did! :P
Once we retire (looking like it's going to be here in AK!) I'll work on the big ones again.
How does one go about even "inquiring" about shipping a horse via FedEx?
Any suggestions?

Hi MommaF8
I work for Fedex and I see horses coming and going every day.
Going from Spokane to Anchorage is a great route for them as it's minimal flight time
(connections, etc).
If you want to use Fedex you would have to contact our live animal desk for the arrangements.
They will tell you that for horses you then need to contact an animal agent to arrange the details.
I called the desk and they gave me a name of an agent they recommend. Not sure if I can post names & phone numbers for the agent here. You can send me a message and I can give you his name, company and phone if you like.
Good luck!!!

Satch... Samson is a beauty!

Friesen/Percheron mix. He's over 18 hands, obviously, and is a total sweetheart.

I had no idea people could even do this. Amazing.

Momma, when you find out how its done and how much it costs will you let us know? This could be useful information. Thank you! I suspect the cost is very high but who knows.

Nice looking head on that horse. Do you use him under saddle or just harness? Are there many horse people in Alaska? Montana is home but I work on the slope. Anchorage will be home next year, if I could bring up some of my horses I would love it; I just hadn't figured people up here in Alaska used horses because of the long winters and lack of feed. This thread gives me hope!!

AQHA...as soon as I find out anything, I'll be glad to share.
BTW...my 5 yo miniature mare is from Montana. We were stationed there for 4 years, 4 years ago! Our 7th child was born in Great Falls. We're still trying to decide whether to retire here in AK or MT!

Samson is gorgeous...I THOUGHT he had Friesian in him! YES!
Do you have any other photos of him? I ask because I'm an artist & would LOVE to paint / draw / sculpt him!
