We have a Boxster S and driving in Alaska, you will get chips during the summer and a lot of smeared bugs. It would be a fun drive, but there will be wear and tear on your car. People won't drive you off the road, there are nice cars in Alaska too.

Most roadsters have a legroom problem.

The seat is too low for the knees to be comfortable.

I drove to Portland. Oregon from Pittsburgh, Pa and after that grueling torture used the Chrysler Town & Country for our other long distance trips.

It's your car...give it a shot...if you are under 30, you will survive...

Be sure to include the Denali and Dalton highways in your tour.

I've done the Denali but did'nt have time for the Dalton.

OK, now taking that car up the Dalton would be CRAZY! You would probably be laughed off the road by every trucker from Fbks to Pruhoe. I'm sure it would be all over channel 19 within minutes and even the tour groups would be waiting to take photos of you at every stop along the way!

HI, I have afriend who just drove from Alaska to the lower 48.... 5 flat tires to make it down.

Your best bet if you value your car is load it on a ferry in seattle and ride the ferry with it... Great view, just like a mini cruise. if you look at what you would spend on gas its not much more for the boat. Google ferry to alaska. Also check with your AAA they may have good ideas..

Good luck!!!

Steve
