Hello, I Like many people will be moving up north to Alaska this year.
I Intend on staying in the Seward area with my two adult sons who already live in Seward untill I can locate a home of my own, the move will take place sometime in August from Seattle Washington, That being said I would very much appreciate any and all advice or information concerning my options for getting a small amount of
Hand and power tools (4 boxes weighing 60-100 pounds each), and also a Computer and Monitor
I am concerned about security, and Cost of shipping, and best way to prepare the boxes, and Shipping options available for my personal property and computer Equip.
Its my hopes by posting this that others may have recently dealt with shipping or getting a small amount of property up north and could advise me.Any and all comments will be much appreciated.
Also I am wondering if shipping in plastic 2ft.X1ft. containers would be a good way to go (4 containers Total)
Thank you in advance.....Johnny

And another, with offices located in Seward:

Carlile Transportation Systems - Seward (http://www.carlile.biz/home_swd.htm - broken link)

Have your stuff shipped there, then have one of your sons go over and pick it up.

I just had 751 pounds of goods shipped to Alaska by Sterling International.

They were expensive at $2.1185 per pound, but it only took them 9 days to ship the goods from Wisconsin to my door outside of Wasilla, and everything was in perfect condition.
