Night life is limited to about 2 bars. Female to male ratio is less than 50-50, but there are girls. Work is hard to come by. Most of the fishing boats are family operated and owned. No idea of the seafood processors in Kodiak.

if you found this forum you certainly can surf the net and find all kinds of info on anywhere in Alaska. Seems to me you would want to do a lot more research on Alaska than just the fact you want to live in AK.

We have a few daily flights from Kodiak to Anchorage. You could also get here by a Ferry from Homer with a vehicle and goods if you wanted although I dont have any information on that. The weather here is perfect to me, it doesnt get colder than 32 degrees and it wont get warmer than 72 degrees. It rains here a lot. Lots of mountains, photography, hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, and other opportunities. There are girls here but you would usually need to meet them by getting out and doing stuff, that is unless you're into the easy **** type who drinks too much and frequent bars. There are a few bars here for nightlife but I avoid them.
I would advise against coming out here without a job already planned out because it is expensive here and right now (being summer and all) it is near impossible to find a place to stay. We have a walmart here, safeway, some specialty shops, a gym, and the biggest coast guard base in the country. With all that being said this is the most beautiful place I have ever seen and if you could manage living here I would suggest it. Here are a couple of recent pictures I took.

Jason,Thanks Alot!! the pics are AMAZING!! i hope you dont mind i stole (saved) them. i hate the idea of going without a job but my research tells me the best way to land a site on a boat is to "beat the docks" also that college kids go there every year (not specifically Kodiak, but alaska) and land jobs no problem. and a news article i found said that the U.S. main supplier of Salmon (which is chile according to the article) has some sort of disease in the water and they would be relying on Alaska this year.i have 2 years experience (shrimp) which does me no good fishing salmon, but i know i dont get sea sick,i can cook, ill clean, wash the boat, watever! whats the closest place to Kodiak i can fly to? Thanks again
