Ince, I know this sticks in your craw, but Satch has got you dead for rights on this one. The reason Ca is on the verge of becoming a failed state is that you guys have insisted on spending more than you collect for decades. That is squarely the fault of the legislature and the voting public. Arnie is a relative newcomer to that game, and he did try to put a stop to it several times with special ballot initiatives, but you all decisively shot him down every time. He is only doing what any other political animal would do in his position, adapting to the will of the people. Trying to blame Arnie for the mess is simply scapegoating. California will fail because of ultra-liberal fiscal policies.

Whenever a group of people discover that they can (or at least think they can) vote themeselves free money and programs, that state will fail. This is simply now being played out on the national stage with Obama. The only reason the nation has lasted longer than Ca is that the feds have the power to print money. But the day of reconing is fast approaching there as well.

I did mean Alaska. It was in response to this statement:

Quote:
Alaska isn't experiencing a financial meltdown because it hasn't been run by liberals for the last 25 years, like California.

From what I recall the stock market crashed and burned some time before Jan. 20, 2009. The offspring's trust fund was adversely affected. Fortunately, due to some snooping around, we found quite a large amount of good stocks that were turned in the state of Cali after the demise of the FIL because some idjit misspelled his name on the certificates.

It's worth doing a search on those things, by the way. It came as quite a surprise, really.
Alaksa is in trouble for a different reason - falling revenues because of declining output from oil reserves. This is mainly a political problem due to a lack of vision and leadership. We've got plenty of oil to up throughput on TAPS, but we are blocked by insane national politics.

Wow this thread has diverged from Palin resigning to debate on which political party caused the problems that exist.

One thing I have found over years (and it is a constant) is that whenever a political party takes power they blame the problems that have on the previous administration.
Dems always blame the previous republican administration and likewise republicans blame the previous democratic administration.
Now if the previous admin is their own party they somehow will find a way to link back to the administration which was in opposition to theirs.

Anyway back to Sarah.
Resigning was a interesting move on her part. There are a few reasons she could have done it.
1. She knows she is going to face a boatload of ethics or financial charges and got out while the getting is good. Who knows if this one is true, should be interesting to wait and see.
2. She feels she has done all she can for Alaska as gov now is going off to pasture.
Knowing this womans penchant for the camera this is highly doubtful.
She can't pass up a moment to keep her name in front of national media either on her own or promoting her family.
3. She feels she has done all she can for Alaska as gov and says she is going off to pasture but really will seek higher political office (senate, potus, vpotus). Now this I believe but feel she has miscalcuated on this. Who in Alaska even if they support her would vote for her as senator? That's a 6 year term and with her track record she would probably be resigning to run for something else by 2012.

Oh and the original post was referring to what would Met do?
I vote for have a good time but that's just my guess on this.

Moose, looks like you have confused me with someone else. Why should it stick in my craw? I call things as I see them. California's woes are a complex set of issues including things like Prop 13, and yes, the idiocy of the fringe Left.

But I shall say no more in this thread which, may I remind all, is devoted to the athletic babe from Wasilliville.

Awe, c'mon, don't leave just because it's getting hot in the kitchen. Isn't that in fact what your beloved Sarah is doing?

Looks as if you were just as instrumental in the detour off topic too!
