The Bears...
Sweet! The Bears score first in 2007! It's that time of year people! This is right off the public trooper report:
Location: Eureka
Case number: 07-27997
Type: Bear Mauling
Text: On 4-13-07 at approximately 1926 hours AST received a report of a
bear attack in the Oshetna River valley. Investigation revealed that
Lynn Keogh, 43 yoa of Anchorage had been attacked by a Grizzly bear
while hunting. Keogh had shot and killed a bear on a hillside and when
he approached the bear a second bear came out of a nearby den and
attacked him. A hunting partner of Keogh's was close by and was able to
shoot and kill the second bear. Keogh was able to call for help on his
satellite phone and give a Life Guard helicopter his exact location with
a hand held GPS. Keogh was rescued and taken to Providence Hospital.
Keogh's injuries were treated and he was released from the hospital.
Keogh is expected to recover from his injuries.

Don't fret. The bears get more than their share every year. I'm their biggest fan. Sounds bad I know, but I actually root for them. And I've come close to getting shredded by a couple myself.
Keep in mind your in the wrong forum to start anti hunting issues. There are people here that won't take it lightly. We do guns and we do hunting. That aspect will never change, some people here still totally rely on hunting/subsistence to survive. They don't have the option of grocery stores. Your just gonna have to accept that fact about Alaska. I just cheer for the other team (the bears)

Aussiemale that seems a little harsh. The bears are already dead so killing the hunters won't bring 'em back. Human life is sacred. If you follow the logic of your own argument "man is no better than them bears" then them bears is no better than man; since, that is the case the bears have as much right to be killed as they do to live. (Respectfully speaking)

I hearya mate & its good to see your for the bears GO THE BEARS I would like to take up hunting myself when we make our move back to the USA.
Dont miss understand what im saying here Rance. Killing for the sake of killing i dont agree with or using it as trophy killing for the wall mounted show off reason.
Go hunting for the need to put food on to the table is ok by me. ,fishing is hunting if you want to look at it in another light , i would not take home a fish under the size of foot , i would only fish for the amout i can eat n no more . I would put it back in the water if its too small. GO THE BEARS olala

Grizzlies are really not the gourmet kind of meat. Maybe a roast or sausage. I've eaten plenty of black bear roasts. Anyone else ever eat brownbear/grizz?

Aussiemale I had a feeling you might be a little bit more reasonable at heart. Hunting for need is okay. I hope I never have the need because I would hate to have to eat a bear. But, I guess I would hate it even more if one ate me.

Well the roasts were not bad. Smothered with mashed spuds and gravy. About like any other roast...maybe a little gamey. The sausage tasted like...sausage. Sage flavor breakfast type. Very good. Berry bears are the best for eating. The ones that graze the mountain sides for blue berries and raspberries. Very good. The fish eaters are gross.
