Hey Everyone...Ketchikan (Hope: real estate, apartment complex, rentals)

I will be moving to Ketchikan in the beginning of september. I am a 22 y.o. male from SC and will be there doing volunteer work for a year, trying to get kids into work and back into school and getting their ged and such. Just a few questions...How are the apartments there? Hard to find? Usually all full? What about renting out rooms? Do a lot of people rent out rooms? I will be on a very small budget and will be struggling to make ends meet but I am still extremely excited. If you have any leads for living arrangements that would be great. Secondly and this may be dumb but I was looking into getting satellite tv due to the fact that I am a HUGE college football fan and that will be the only way to see the east coast and southern games. How do they fair since I know it rains constantly? Third how is the bar and nightlife scene? I wouldn't say I'm a huge partier but I def like to have fun. I would love more info on just living and the type of people there in general.

Let's see. Your on a budget. You want cheap rent but need satellite TV. And you want to spend time in Ketchikans numerous drinking establishments.

Rent isn't cheap. And if you do find cheap you wouldn't want to live there. There is really only one apartment complex per se and that's Woodside Village.

Good luck with getting the dropouts back in school. I was lucky in that my kids knew if they didn't go to school they were gonna be in deep kimchee.

I know quite a few of the kids that dropped out when mine were still in. Some ended up going over to Revilla High School but most didn't bother.
