I wanted to take my 2 year old to come along and hang out while his dad dipnets in Kenai. Is it something that could be fun for my son or is it more for older children? Ive never been there before. Thanks!

Default should be fine

Dipping at either side is fine for little ones. The south side you can 4 wheel drive the beach right to the mouth but on the north side there is a parking lot and you have to walk quite a ways to the mouth. There is a road that goes closer to the mouth that is for drop off/pickup.
Also, the only "facilities" are port-a-potties and there are usually lots of campers. Dogs are supposed to be on leashes.
Overall it's a giant sandbox so should be lots of sandy fun for him.

Seems to me a 2 year old can be entertained anywhere...for at least 18 seconds.

Just let him get dirty and bring plenty of changes of clothes. Prepare to keep him warm after he gets wet and muddy. But he will have a great time.

I'm sure he would have fun. My only question would be are you the only adult going that will supervise him? How comfortable are you with leaving him on shore while you are wading 20 or 30 ft out, possibly for long periods with your attention diverted elswhere, particularly if there tons of other people there?
