Default 4th of July in Wrangell

The 4th in Wrangell is the biggest holiday of the year. Our population of around 1200 quadruples. Anyone who has ever lived here, visited here, wanted to visit or has family here comes home for the 4th. It starts June first when high school girls run for Queen by selling $1 tickets and lunches at booths downtown to pay for the festivities. Last year the girls earned $70,000 of which they keep a percentage to help get them off to college. The rest pays for a first class fireworks display and prizes ranging from $5,000 to new bikes. Better Homes & Gardens magazine did a 4-page spread on Wrangell's 4th a few years back claiming Wrangell had one of the best hometown celebration in the country.

Nice fun pictures! I didn't even do any festivals over the weekend. I did drive the Denali Highway again.

Grammas, once again thank you so much...your pictures allow us to visit you and feel like we are there, and/or wish we were

If I had known that I would have thrown an extra steak on the grill. We were camped out at Tangle Lakes.

Wow, nice scenery, I'd really like to drive that again myself! ( the green-eyed monster rears it's ugly head!)
