Red face Our Al Can trip

Memories of the ALCan from Seattle to Delta Junction Alaska.

Left Seattle June 21. Our pickup had been checked out completely by our auto mechanic and they gave us the green light to head out for the great 3 week Alaskan road trip. The road trip was new to us as we have always flown up.

The pickup made it to Coal Creek and we started having problems with it.
We had to have it towed into Watson Lake on Friday July 3rd due to the Holiday weekend it could not be checked out until Monday morning because of the weekend. The people at Rudys towing in Watson lake and Richard at Contact Creek were very nice people and were very helpful. We then had to have it towed to Whitehorse where my husband sat in the sleeper portion while I sat up front with the driver. A very enjoyable first time ride in a tow truck. In Whitehorse they had to keep the truck for a week while they ordered parts for it.
Time is running short at this time so we rented a large U Haul truck put everthing in the back and we continued our trip to Delta Junction.
Friends in Delta got quite a laugh when we arrived in the U Haul truck.

We had planned to do some much anticipated work on our property in Big Delta. We did not get as much accomplished as we had hoped to but spent some much needed time with friends in Delta. We arrived home yesterday tired but still missing Alaska. My husband Pat is still counting up $$ the gas, transmission, and unexpected hotel cost was enough to drive him crazy! He has survived! Seeing our property in Alaska made it worthwhile.

We met some very nice people who were very helpful and saw spectacular scenery (as most of you know ) and seeing all the Bears, Stone Sheep and buffalo surprised us both.

We will never forget this memorable trip cant wait until next years.

We will move to Big Delta in two years when hopefully the house and shop will be completed.

We can't wait.:
