Working in Valdez
Coming to Valdez next week. I'll be working at the ARCO refinery, staying at the man camp. I was looking for a little information about the mancamp...any help out there?

Valdez Airport Mancamp - a Valdez hotel/motel across the street from the airport with showers and laundry.
If that's it that's the one we all stayed in during the Exxon Valdez oil spill. When I got there in May of 89 that were still hauling the buildings in and putting things together.
Stayed about 2 months before moving over to another mancamp that had built downtown.
It's a typical pipeline camp put together out of old Atco buildings. It's a basic room with two beds and a shared bathroom down the hallway.

ok, thanks for the input. I was wondering about wifi access. Trying to figure how big of antenna I need to bring.

When I was working there I had no idea what a personal computer, cell phone or wifi was. If I had we might not have been stranded on the beach for 38 hours when we went on bear watch at Ewan Bay. Something about the pilot forgetting to check in with flight following.
I'm sure they have something somewhere. Also, you should take some shower shoes with you. |
