I dont use depression anymore cause the people/society CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!. Tell any of the ladies on this forum were in a depression! and they say NOOOO what about my CATS!!!!!!!!!!! Real Men will bring truth back but these dumb azzes want to be feminist and allow the pillage. SAD
[SIZE=3]I am a woman of the lower 48 who stays in the background of the Alaska thread. I have come to admire and deeply respect the people on these posts. I also love the pictures, stories and opinions that are posted. This comment seemed a little harsh to me and I felt it deserved a response. First of all, there are a lot of people in this nation who are as you have described, but I don’t believe they are as many as you think. There are many rural areas in the US where people live without many conveniences such as electricity and the folks who live in these areas work hard for very little. Sometimes it is because it is where they have to be, and for others it is where they are for the moment. There are also plenty of hardworking individuals in the urban and city areas. As a healthcare provider, I care for many of these rural men, women and children who can’t afford insurance or healthcare and a $4 prescription often goes unfilled so they can buy food for their children. Unfortunately, many of these people are single moms. These women aren’t whiners nor do they worry about a “cat” (whatever that is about). Rather they work all day and half the evenings to barely get buy. I don’t know who you hang out with but they aren’t the part of America I see. Whether you are in Alaska or Colorado (where I am from) there are some really hard times right now and good people are losing a lot. They aren’t worried about stock or 401K’s…..they worry how they will pay the rent and eat. Perhaps if you started seeing the similarities in people the differences would disappear.

Reps from me as well. Don't be such a lurker; we need people like you posting here more often.
MM may get quite a surprise if he ever actually moves to Alaska and looks for a job...quite a few businesses here are owned by women. The major logging company here on the island is; most of the restaurants are, the small fish processors are all female owned businesses...personally I wouldn't hire his sorry ass to wash totes.
but what the hell. I gotta get back to eating bon bons, stressing over my cats that I don't have, and calling the cops on black bears.

Ok, we who live outside Wasilla, but have a Wasilla address are becoming a tad sensitive about the constant, blatant, unrepentant, slamming of Wasilla...Whitesilla...lower-48 clone...trash...whatEVER.
I know we should just shut up and enjoy our piece of perfect, wonderfulness, but...we just can't seem to do it, can we!?
All I can say is: Wasilla is not Anchorage...not that there is anything wrong with Anchorage. If you want to live in a city...then you live in Anchorage. If you want to live 'out in the boonies' with a reasonable drive (25-30 m) to the hospital (getting older here...) or the store (still need to buy a few things you know) then...IMVHO, Wasilla ROCKS.
Come and visit...then tell us what you think.

Very well said. Wasilla/Palmer are actually closer to each other than Wasilla or Palmer are to Anchorage. When you drive down the Palmer-Wasilla Highway it is difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.
I also do not live in Wasilla (my subdivision is actually in the township of Houston), but I have a Wasilla address. Those who feel compelled to disparage someplace they have never been and know nothing about are obviously a few bricks short of a full load.
