Further out properties are less expensive (Haines, Skagway: communities, mosquito, roads)

I am trying to figure the approximate distance from Haines to the outer commuities of Kukwan, Wells, Covenant Life and Mosquito Lake since my local AAA do not carry maps for that area. Anyone??

Believe it or not, this site (city-data.com) has mileages to most of those communities posted on the Alaska page. Check down towards the bottom of the Haines entry. Haines itself is listed in the "cities 1000-6000" column.

Nearest cities: Mud Bay, AK (8.7 miles) , Lutak, AK (14.0 miles) , Skagway, AK (18.9 miles ), Klukwan, AK (32.8 miles) , Covenant Life, AK (44.7 miles) , Mosquito Lake, AK (51.0 miles ), Excursion Inlet, AK (56.9 miles) , Gustavus, AK (60.1 miles ).

I'm pretty sure that some of those mileage figues are "as the crow flies" unless they've built a lot of new roads lately!

Thanks Roto". Somehow I've the mind set using the satelilite pics w/their distance measurement and mapquest as the way to find these distances. I've should have looked at the more obvious. Must be old age.
