You are starting the way MOST Alaskans have started , curiousity.....Alaska is made of people from all over just curious how life is here. And it is either a hit or a miss. But the place does grow on you even if you deny it. Well it seems you want a small town. Anchorage and Fairbanks are large and not small.If you want a point to start I would suggest you go to the Alaska Job Service through the State web page. They hire all over and youd be surprised where you'd end up with good pay.....By the way there is no escaping the dreaded December darkness. A rule of thumb if it is a concern, the higher you are the darker it gets, the lower end of the state is not dark too long. The Aleutian Islands actually are dark at normal times in December.
