What about using a different engine thermostate to help with warming problems? I think ive heard of oil heaters that go down the dipstick hole, but that sounds like a messy option at best.
I suppose a camper trailer would have to have heat tape etc. on any liquid carrying item, tanks, pipes, etc. What about propane use? Are there problems with regulators etc.?

Block heater is the way to go. A block heater, usually of 450 Watts, is immersed in the antifreeze running through the engine block. The main problem with propane is that it creates a lot of moisture, and a trailer that isn't very-well insulated will allow for the water vapors to turn to ice by the floor and the lower wall edges.
