How much trouble can I get into with ATF--theoretical of course
suppose some evil entity slipped a few jars of moonshine into my luggage--can I get into trouble, does anyone know? Do they rifle through your luggage much at Alaska Airlines for in-state flights? Of course this is just theoretical for a book I'm writing and has no chance of happening in real life.

It really depends on how much TSA wants to **** with you. They could pour it out or they could pour it all over the contents of your suitcase. YMMV...

Well I know that TSA paws through your carry ons as I found out when they swiped a premium bottle of Pinot Noir from me what I am wondering about is checked baggage.

The ATF has nothing to do with inspecting checked luggage. The TSA can open it for any reason or for no reason at all. It really depends which dick is working the day that you're flying.

They do x-ray checked bags, but I've never had any trouble with liquids or anything. On my trips I will often pack some unopened sodas or bottled water and they don't seem to give it a second look. You will know when you open your bag to find one of those "love notes" telling you that they went through all of your dirty clothes. But I have never found that packing liquids seems to trigger a manual search. The only place my checked bags get routinely searched (manually) is at Deadhorse, but that's because they don't have an x-ray machine there.

Met just add a few drops of yellow food coloring to the jars & if they ask what it is tell them that they're urine samples that you're taking to your urologist.

My boss just got a new I-phone. Apparently they've got some "app" thingy that makes the sound of a pump shotgun when you shake the phone. I told him to try it in line at the airport. Heck, the stupid phone even has video so he can record their reaction!
