They are mostly at peak color now. Most of the colors are yellows.

I cringe at the thought of calling that thing a camera.

As soon as that first snow hits though, the leaves start really dropping and all those brilliant colors quickly begin fading to brown. I swear I can almost tell a slight difference just from yesterday. Got to get out and get those remaining fall pictures fast!

Yeah, I would love to see fall pictures of Alaska! The leaves are just beginign to turn here in Minnesota, but still pretty green. We get alot of red and orange colors. We dont have any evergreen trees where I live so it all turns and then falls off. By late November it looks pretty desolate, but then the snow starts.

These were taken a few weeks ago up in the Brooks Range:

The colors start changing even earlier up there. It's already been snowing there for a while now.

Holy Cow those pictures are awsome! You can really tell where the tree line is. You are fortunate to have all of those evergreen trees. Where I live, once it freezes everything is brown and dead until spring. It looks like the deciduous trees are much smaller up there, but they turn nice colors. What is the name of all of those bushes that change bright red and cover the hills? I need to go visit there in the Fall. Early September would be the best time you say?

I thought I heard once they were dwarf dogwood? I don't know, I'm not a plant person. Maybe someone else can answer.

Depends where you mean. Up in the Brooks Range, late August. Further south like around Fairbanks or here in Anchorage, early to mid September.
