I know. It's one of my favorite times of the year--in the upper Su I used to love how you could see it coming right at you down from the Alaska Range.

I have been smelling the snow from my fireside seat on the Sound the last few mornings.

The first stages of freeze-up are incredible too.

Yay! I've been looking forward to winter again. The cold, low Sun, all the clear skies, frozen lakes and marsh land. I want to get back out in the middle of the hay flats again. Watch the moose run by, be in the middle with the mountains surrounding me.

Yea, it's really fascinating to watch how the ice crystals form across the surface of a pond or lake. And it's really cool to see the white color of the termination dust contrasted with the fading fall colors.

I heard from relatives that it was close to 100F down in So Cal today! Buwahahahahaha.

It topped out at 56F here at the house today. I was working outside without a shirt, and still worked up a sweat!

We got up into the low 60's here, started out cloudy, but turned into a wonderful mostly sunny day. Got the lawn mowed, I hope for the last time.
