So the snow hit sugarloaf today. According to local Valdez lore that means snow on the ground in 2 weeks. Hope everyone is ready! I know I sure as heck am not. I got a lot to do and almost no time to do it!

I love snow but I am so scared!! I have only lived in Alaska since spring time. I have not seen any snow since last winter back in the lower 48. We got like 4 feet and we were the only ones on the road, so I think we'll be fine up here, but I am still a bit worried. We're tougher, we belong up here, we can do it I need to get my 4x4 vehicle winterized ASAP though!!!! Any recommendations?? So far all I have is snow tires.

If anything else maybe just a engine block heated, few other things you can do that can't hurt too, like an oil pan heater.

Check fluid levels and belt conditions, check your antifreeze percentage, check your spare tire, change oils etc. Anything you can do now might reduce the chance of having to do it in 10 degree weather later.

So much for two weeks. Woke up to a 2" fresh blanket of white at my house this morning! And all last night the Channel 2 weather babe was assuring me there would be NO snow accumulation from this one.

Moose, how were the winds up there this morning between 4 and 5 AM? Down at 150 feet it got pretty gusty. Highest recorded gust was 32 mph at PAMR but that seems a little low compared to what I experienced.

I'm showing a highest gust of 23 mph at 03:00 on my station. I'm at 1275 feet. Any snow on the ground at your place? Still have about 1/2" left here but melting fast.
