I have found out that it will take me nearly 2 years to get out to Alaska as a registered nurse. As I need at least two years post grad experience, and I also have to do some extra studies to cover things needed to gain a licence in the US to practise as a nurse. I have heard about people working in the oil fields at North Slope, before becoming a nurse I worked in the oil industry as a commercial diver/medic, and I would like to work their does anybody have any information on these fields, or even better does anybody know any nurses who work their as I would like to know if I need to have experience in a certain area to work in one of these fields as a nurse.
Thanks a lot, Karl Last edited by k.s.nunn; 05-04-2007 at 09:43 AM.. Reason: mistake |

You might check with Fairweather, Inc. They have a medical group operating in the Norht Slope Borough and provide nurses, EMT's and paramedics. Contact here in town MIGHT be Jessica Cheatwood. Otherwise I'd check with Doyon Services and Doyon Drilling. BP, Unocal, Alyeska and Shell. Pioneer Natural Resources.
