Your animal is also in the best of hands when flying with us, in every station I have been in, when there is a dog or a cat, the agents make sure that they are well taken care of. I personally talk to the dogs and cats, and let them know everything is good. We are not SUPPOSED to pet them through the cages for saftey and such... but often we will clean our hands and pet your dog or cat if its shaking and let it know its alright.

Thats Alaska Spirit for you

We are driving out to California to visit family first and then shipping our vehicle and we may either fly or take the ferry from Washington to Anchorage. Not sure really what we are doing. Just trying to run all our options, but we may just drive both cars to CA with the dogs and fly and ship from CA. We'll see. Not sure I want to be on a ferry for 5 days verses flying for 5 hours!

Drive up! You know the dogs will be safe all the way to Alaska. There are many pet friendly hotels on the Alcan.

LOL this reminded me of a funny story that is more like AS folk-lore by now... I heard it the other day when I was mentioning this, and my mom told me this story a LONG time ago.

This older person was transporting a cat in a kenel... when the agents in anchorage saw that the cat had passed away on its trip, they had rushed to the pet store, and got a replacement cat who looked identical for this older lady. Well when the lady picked up her cat, she said "this isn't my cat" and the agent kinda looked nervous and asked "why do you say that" and the lady said "well because the cat I shipped was dead" :P Sorry that isn't a productive part of the conversation but I thought I would share it
