Default Job opportunity in King Salmon.

I would like to get information on the King Salmon and Naknek area. I’m considering a job opportunity in King Salmon and have only been able find very basic information about the area. I realize King Salmon (approximately 450 residents) is tiny in comparison to the small town where I live in Southeast Tennessee (approximately 3,700 residents).

I also realize its really, really isolated compared to what I’m used to but, that’s why I’m asking questions; so I can make a fully informed decision about whether to make a move such as that. Since I have no interest in “big city” things like art, theater and dining out I can’t see that as being a problem. I guess the hi-lite to my existence here is an occasional (maybe 4 – 6 times per year) trip to the local Wal-Mart. Being as the closest Wal-Mart would be in Anchorage then that might have to drop to once or twice a year.

I can see doing a trip to Anchorage a couple of times a year to do some shopping could be feasible. For me, those kinds of trip could also satisfy my appetite for dining out as well.

Now, for me this is a big question; what options would be available for moving in personal belongings? Trust me; I’ve learned from my previous moves to only take with me what would be necessary. I would have one vehicle and a few personal and household items that I would plan on bringing so, what options would be available for transporting such from the lower forty-eight? Are there any options for bringing stuff into the area by ship or ferry?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
Greg
