Default theorys

I notice the "want to move to alaska" threads come in waves. (Lyoness does'nt count). Why is that? economics? season change? Alaska special on discovery channel? what?
I'm sure its alittle of everything but why does everybody have the same feelings at the same time?
I just find it interesting.

My theory is: People are looking for a better place to live, or what they feel is a better place. Alaska represents what most feel to be the frontier mentality; a place to escape to that has beauty and totally different in most ways then the lower 48 States. I think people are worried with what's going on with the economy as well as other issues here in the U.S. and many are thinking the jobs up here are plentiful. Alaska has wide open spaces, mountains, beautiful lakes, fishing, hunting. If you're living in a crowded city in the lower 48 Alaska can appear as your Mecca.

There is no doubt that the shows, Ice Truckers, Alaska State Troopers and the fishing have caused people to want to move here, and then there are those that think there's "free money."

I think people watch too much Discovery Channel on how they make money up here. Fishing seems to be on top of everyone's posts.

Yep, I think your right. And the new shows like " alaska state troopers" probly fans the fire and causes all the new threads at the same time.
Will be interesting to see the next alaska show and see if the (moving to alaska) threads spike.

I don't know if all the criminal shows are really helping.. I just had 2 different family members say they watched a special on the Bethel jail, and were scared for me because it made it look like our town was a bunch of criminals... I had to explain that we have them shipped in. :P

Maybe it's just because the show reminds me of when I was a kid, or maybe it was the moose, but I still think Northern Exposure is the best one yet. I know, could I sound anymore like a tourist, or (insert your word here)
