Thanks for the information all, I think we will head up there in June or July. And, sorry if I sound plural.

Will you be needing two plane tickets?

Seriously for anyone wanting to visit Alaska, this place is beautiful; very rustic, excellent food, a bit pricey but well worth it. We went there back in 2001 and I loved it; want to go again one day. We got married and had our honeymoon there.

Alaska's Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge, Kachemak Bay Eco-lodge, Homer, Alaska, lodging, accommodations, sea kayaking, hiking, Seldovia, B & B, bed and breakfast, hotels, halibut charters, salmon fishing, Halibut Cove, wildlife photography, bear viewing

Yes, it started snowing up in the Brooks at the end of August. temps are in the minus 20 to minus 30 range now.
Thanks Moose. From the looks of those photos the road to the Brooks Range is still clear in early September but the higher peaks are getting snow. Doesn't look like a bad time to go.

Wow, just wow. To those who gave me the advice I asked for, thankyou very much. I truly appreciate it. Looks like we will be coming in late May to mid June. Just have to figure out the dates now.

To those who turned my thread in to an online cage fight. Thanks for nothing.

A drive across the Denali Highway from Cantwell to Paxson is a must! It should be open around the time you come up. I've driven it twice now. If you look in the photo thread you'll find my pictures in there of the road.

warptman, I so want to do that but from what I understand, rental companies will not let you go off the pavement.

Oh, I forgot about that! Stay on the main road, if you like hiking there are numerous places in Valdez to hike. It's a nice drive down there.

LOL..don't take it personal...it happens alot. Just remember to make your reservations "ahead" of time - I would not wait till the last minute to reserve lodging, etc. Coming in late May to mid June you should have some nice weather. Keep us posted.
