My wife and I wish to take our summer Vacation to Alaska. We had our honeymoon there in 1999 and had planned to go back on our 10th anniversary. But funds were not there but after working a ton of overtime this past summer and paying off most of our bills we now can afford to come back. We are looking at late May to late June or August as possible times to come. Last time we went in mid August and had mostly good weather, even saw Denali in full glory, along with some rainy cold days. So we know August is changable but how about late may and June?

We will be visiting areas from Homer to Denali and points in between. Thanks in advance for any help.

Daytime is the best time to visit Alaska during May-June.

Can't really see anything in the night time. Anytime in May and June is nice. In May the hordes of tourists have yet to arrive here or is just starting up. The weather isn't really predictable. It can rain and five minutes later the sun will be out. June summer is in full swing and the Kings are swimming up the rivers. Alaska Travel, Jobs, Homes, Fishing, Hiking and more... | alaska.com

Late May & June is beautiful and often drier than August.

Shuttles into Denali as far as Wonder Lake usually start around June 9. Around June 1 will get you as far as Eielson. The shuttles start running the later part of May but then only to Tolkat rest stop. I prefer to get at least as far as the high tundra around Eielson for great hiking.

You could start down on the Kenai in late May & work your way up to Denali, so you will be there when the shuttles go deeper into the park.

I usually have the best weather hiking, backpacking & seeing the mountain in Denali National Park in June.

Late May and June are the best times. We tell that to people all the time but most insist on coming during the rainy seasons of July and August.
