The sun is going nuts. Tonight might be a good night for auroras. You guys need to spend the night outside with your cameras and a 12-pack.

Been really nice out the last couple of days. Frosty outside this morning and 34F. Supposed to have lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s and highs in the mid to upper 40s this week, and that snow thing is starting to make an appearance in the forecast.

26 degrees in Palmer this morning. Clear and crisp. Almost too beautiful to believe.

Aurora was out last night but also saw what I thought was lightning. Turned out to be Iridium Flashes. It was very bright just like lightning but without the thunder.

Yes, it was nice that morning on my way out of town, but was snowing by the time I made it out to Mat Glacier, then was clear and nice again in Glennallen with beautiful Aurora that night. Yesterday there was light snow up around Paxson - Summit - Isabel Pass, but warmer and even the smell of wildfires North of Delta. Today there was a good inch of new snow on the ground from about Healy to Cantwell, but still good fall colors south of Hurricane Gultch all the way back to ANC.

Same here. Even though I'm not a big fan of bitter cold temps, here in SW Minnesota it has been bone dry and hot out the last part of this month so my allergies are killing me. The forecast for next week is sunny and 80's. I guess I'll take it but we're starting to look like Texas around here.

^ Whew, that's rough! One of my favorite weather stations on my Weather Underground page is for Puposky, MN. I picked that one randomly from a map, and it ends up being kinda odd because one of the great ladies who posts here on the Alaska forum has a daughter living in Puposky. But anyway, I notice that their temperatures, even way up in northern MN, are a good 20˚F warmer than ours (for now)! I mean, we are at just under 3000 feet elevation here at my house, but still, c'mon, it's Minnesota! It's supposed to be colder than that!

All I know is I'm friggin glad it's fall time. I'll have to post a pic on the chat thread sometime of our magnificent foliage.

I am not sure how cold (probably high 20's?) it is today. The lake is freezing over and the river is also icing up. It snowed last night and I have been having fun learning how to drive my new (to me) 4 wheeler in it. The most remarkable thing about the weather today...the sun is out and there isn't any wind! I'll take it!

Actually 80's is not real unusual this time of year, in southern Minnesota anyway. I'm sure its more out of the norm the further north you go, but I remember last year it was in the 90's in the middle of October and it was in the 70's all the way until the middle of November/ but when winter comes to Minnesota, it comes very suddenly it seems and doesn't let go until late March.
