Default Talkeetna

Is it worth staying 2 nights at or better to have as just a day trip stop over.

I am currently planning our 2010 summer vacation to Alaska and am wondering about Talkeetna. Are there lots of things to do here or very little?
We are planning on spending 3 nights near Denali so not sure if it is a good idea to also spend more than just a day here. Thanks

I really liked Talkeetna, we did the river tour and the sky-seeing around Denali, both of which were well worth the price of admission. If you bring a fly rod, as did we, there was great fishin', of course, a spinnin' rod would probably work well too. It's just.....that anything feels really BIG on a fly rod, and something genuinely big, feels like a whale! Nothin' like taking 25 minutes to land one fish. Also, don't know if it still does, but, back then, the sandwich shop did a really good philly cheese steak. Really friendly people too, well.....when the cruise ship sends in 6 buses at a time it can get hectic.
