What I like about Texas.

The rattlesnakes.
The water moccasins.
The copper heads.
The scorpions.
The mesquite thorns.
The searing heat and humidity.
The mountain lions and bobcats.
The tornadoes.
The wasps, bees, black widows and centipedes.
The floods and lighting storms.
The wild javelins.
The cactus thorns.
The allergies.
The droughts.
The summer sun shining for 14 hrs a day.
The poison ivy and oak.
The fire ants.
The termites.
The stingrays and sharks at the beach.
The jelly fish.
The hurricanes.
The brush fires.

Darn hospitable place if you survive.
I call it home, but would love to see Alaska one day as I always wanted to.

The reason why there aren't anymore pissed-off Texans on this thread is because nobody down there really cares what someone up in Alaska really thinks about them. They aren't as sensitive as you think.

They don't care what any of the other Texan-haters think either.

Texans have better things to do than hear about Alaska whine it is twice the size of Texas cuz nobody cares.

The muledeer in TX are bigger than the whitetails. You must be thinking about the sweaty east. Sorry about that. That's not really Texas, dude - just territory annexed from Louisiana. Even so, the largest trophy muley in the west is smaller than the smallest adult moose in AK, so ease off the mine-is-bigger-than-yours bullchitna (like that, Met?).

Peace, blackbear.

(Ha! He said black bear. As if...)

First, white-tails range all the way to Arizona. Second, Texas was still part of Spain when Louisiana became a state. We won what is now central and eastern Texas in the Texas Revolution (and that was the entirety of Texas, as far as Mexico was concerned, until the Mexican-American War in 1846-48). I've never in my life heard anyone say that eastern Texas "isn't really Texas." Pretty funny stuff.
