Papa Pilgrim molested his daughter and is now standing trial? Or did he plead guilty?
Sad. I was so hopeful for them but in the back of my mind I knew something was wrong with the pretty picture. |

Unfortunately the ability to live in a remote or rural place is an ideal location for some very bad folks. Those on the run or with mental issues of every calibur. It's the one drawback for Alaska. It has many good hiding places.

Incest and abuse. Guy was definitely a few cards shy of 52. He was a tool, but not the sharpest in the shed. His family is still shell-shocked according to the news reports.

The truth is that there is alot of crime that goes through Anchorage. And thats not considering DUI's and petty things like that. I'm talking about murder, rape, assault, things like that. There is alot of cases like that, that just arn't released to the public. They only WANT you to think that its a safe place, but its not. I know that for a fact.

Actually for all that I've read about crime in Anchorage & Wasilla, its minimal compared to cities in the lower 48. I think one big deterrent is that the criminals don't know who is armed & who isn't. I think that there's more incentive to commit a crime if the thug knows that his victim is unarmed.
I felt safe walking in Anchorage with my wife day & night. There is no road rage to speak of, & I never saw any of the drunk drivers that cruise the Parks every night as ADN would have one believe. |

Despite the anecdotal evidence to the contrary, the crime rate in Alaska is extremely high when compared to the other 49 states according to the FBI Unform Crime Report. For example, Anchorage has the lowest ratio of Forcible Rapes in Alaska, but is still more than double the national average.
Violent Crime Ratio per 100,000 residents: District of Columbia... 1,508.4 South Carolina......... 765.5 Tennessee.............. 760.2 Nevada.................. 741.6 Florida................... 712.0 Louisiana................ 697.8 Alaska.................... 688.0 Alaska ranks the 7th most violent state in the US, even higher than California (532.5) and New York (434.9). I gotta ask. How is a "forcible" rape different from rape? Isn't that term sort of redundant?
