Hello all! Forgive me if this has been discussed before but I did a search and could not find an answer to this ... what telephone/high speed internet service providers do the residents of sterling use? anyone have directv service in this area? we are kinda partial to directv as we are huge football fans and would hate to miss out on our favorite team. any info would be appreciated =)

Unless you are in the Shadow of a Mountain looking South at about 11 AM, you should be able to get both Dish and DirectTV, you can also get Hughesnet High Speed Satellite Internet as well as the local phone company's dialup and/or DSL. Don't know the name of the telephone company there, but the same services are pretty much the same all along the highway system in Alaska.

Rance lives there and can give you a better outlook of what is there. Very pretty area though, not a lot of jobs around.

Thanks for the info. I did find a person in soldotna who installs both directv and dish network so im hoping for no dial-up! lol Its all worth it though even if I have no other choice. Luckily most of the gang will not need jobs cause they are retiring. As for me, im bringing enough to live on for awhile just in case. =)

ACS provides both dial up and DSL...although the DSL is not that great. And yes...you can get both satellite brands.

I did get in contact with ACS about a peticular property that we were looking at and looks like all they can offer me is dialup. Looks like it will be directv for me =) I hear that it is all HD, which i have never had yet =)

We had DSL just outside of Soldotna, and it might be Dish there which is what we had...

Granny, DirectTV is making a big push around here now. I think they have more channels for half the price as well.
