Oh well. It still means less farmed fish on the market so hopefully it'll mean less fish farms.

We are getting a little bit too snooty here about salmon. While I prefer kings and reds to cohos, I'll eat fresh CHUM salmon and PINK salmon over trout any day.

They all have different flavor and any wild salmon is better than farmed salmon.

I know some of you are in the salmon business but don't get on me for not knowing my salmon. I have spent 18 summers on gillnetters and seiners. Learn to enjoy the fresh salmon for what it is, they have different flavors. Did someone say diversity?

Anyway, Target is going for wild salmon and that's good. Not that I'll buy any of it, I have a freezer full of red salmon right now.

OK Gramma, I looked at your picture and I have to say that I would have a hard time eating that one as well. Now I'm getting snooty.

I should have said I'd prefer a bright Chum or Pink over trout any day.

As part of Trident's marketing ploy for dog salmon, they have developed some recipes that do a good job of covering up the taste, or so I understand.

To be fair, the dog salmon in Target will be ocean caught and (hopefully) flash frozen. Some of the bad rap that both dog salmon and humpies get is due to fish that are river caught--once they hit fresh water they deteriorate rapidly.
