Thumbs up Alaska Babies...Mooo!

Ok....you're right...they don't go "moo". They make a kind of grunting noise, which I can't quite put into words. They sure are little and cute. It is that time of year again: Alaska's animals are having young ones. This trio came splashing across the creek and through my yard. As small as they are, these twins had no problem keeping up with mom in the knee-high glacial stream. Hard to believe, but in a few years these tiny tots can be well over 700 pounds. (Some bulls have approached 1500 pounds in some regions. ). If you should see young animals like these, keep your distance...moose cows can be dangerous when defending their young.

Bud

Yes, moose twins are very common, we see this quite often. Same with bears. One summer I saw a black bear with THREE cubs!

Hi Bud"
Is it my understanding regarding multiple birth in animal such as the bears, the survival rate of 1 or even 2 of the 3 is in doubt depending on the aggressiveness of each?
