About the clouds.... isn't it usually cloudy in other parts of Alaska?

From what I've been reading on the other posts, the majority of Alaska is dark and dreary. Am I wrong?
Yes, that is exactly right! Terrible and awful! you dont want to come here

I live in Valdez currentley. It is awesome! yes it rains and snows A LOT, but its actually been fairly mild the last 2 years. the bugs dont seem that bad to me, i thought they were way worse on the way to fairbanks. its not mostly uppity oil workers in nice houses that should be in anchorage. actually just as many people live in trailers or crappy houses as nice ones. there is some remote land for sale out of town, and not all the land is to steep and avalance prone. i drive from valdez to anchorage and back in a day, every couple months, and i do fine on the drive driving bothways and the whole time there. it's definetley a port town with lots of tourists in the summer, but they all flee like lemmings on labor day.(i think the're scared were gunna put them to work!lol) i havent seen or heard anything about there still being oil from the exxon spill, or the one that happened recentley on the same reef. our drinking water is great, way better than most water i've had since moving to AK. i've been told its glacier water, which wouldnt surprise me considering i can see 10 glaciers in mountain tops from my dining room table. I have been to anchorage, the valley, fairbanks and everytown in between, and i've decided that the day i move out of valdez is the day i move out of AK, and hopefully that wont ever happen!

Valdez Pros - None
Cons - It Exists
Huge amounts of snow
Atmosphere is lame

It's kind of pretty, but it's always cloudy, and the atmosphere I have found to be less than perfect.
If you want to go somewhere just because it's a small Alaskan town, there are plenty of better places.

Wow, thanks Moose! I may be moving to Valdez for a bit here in a couple months and am really looking forward to it. To me at least, it looks absolutely awesome!

It smells fishy in the summer. There is a Hatchery down there and it normally stinks around it.

Lol, I applied for a job at the hatchery, so it'll probably be even fishier for me.

Yes, it is beautiful there! If you spend enough time there though, you'll come to understand the reasoning behind acg515's comments.

Good luck with the job.
