Has anyone on here relocated to Alaska to teach? What experiences have you had?

I know some people who stayed for 3 or 4 years and loved it and others whose wives threatened to divorce them if they did not move back home.

One had a wife who missed cable and "her shows" and computer usage. But the husband really liked it.

I think this sounds like it might be reasonable, but sadly all I know about Alaska really is "Northern Exposure" and I know that is just not realistic.

Anyone have any stories to share? I would love to hear them

I relocated to Alaska from my home in New Mexico for a higher paying job with a nice retirement package.

I'm in Anchorage where life is pretty easy, cable ready & a wifi hotspot! Anchorage School District is great.

We skate ski out our back door on groomed trails that traverse the city. In the summer we backpack all over. Cost of living is a bit high. Still, life's pretty good here.

We were the reverse here. My wife got a job to teach in rural Alaska and I followed her out here. This is our 7th year out in the bush and we love it. We are now moving to another place that is a little less remote. We are out in Unalakleet which is a hub, so we only have one flight from here to Anchorage.
