Do you mean the wolves know you're carrying a 40 cal handgun and don't bother you?

Hey...I just had an idea. Collars and wolves made me think of the training collar on my dog. It works great and when it's on him he does whatever I want him to do. Of course he knows when it's off but that's another story.

Anyway, we could have all the wolf lovers collar these wolves with training collars. Then they can follow them around and train them to only eat mice and leave the moose alone. Problem solved, we take care of the mean wolves and give the Ms Ferral types something meaningful to do!

That would be cruel and inhumane to the wolf huggers.

It's seems strange but I was pointing out that a portion of the government in Alaska was disingenuous in the way they were doing business. Whether wolves kill and eat moose isn't a question I was asking about but whether F&G was telling the truth about one thing which is part of their mission? If a government is lying about one thing then I would suggest it is reasonable to expect they will lie about something else. If that something else is the predator prey relationship then that can be argued ad infinitum. But let's separate the ability of government to do the right thing because the rationale is right and the ability of the same government to lie to CYA in another situation? There is a substantial body of evidence that the interaction between predator and prey is known. The question should be will there ever be a situation where too many predators remove all their prey in which case the predators will likewise die? The earliest studies in predator prey relationships were conducted in Europe and involved Lemmings and Arctic Foxes. The study showed that when Lemmings were abundant the population of foxes grew in numbers and when that happened the foxes ate Lemmings to the point there weren't enough Lemmings to support the increased population of Foxes and they died. The cycle went on and now has been studied through many cycles. There seems to be a lack of such studies in North America on Wolves vs Moose but the State Legislature here in Alaska decreed they know all there is to know about the relationship between Moose and Wolves. But is F&G telling you and I the truth about this situation? We are relative latecomers to Alaska and the Wolves and Moose existed here long before we showed up and it appears they successfully made it this far and both had a population density that was in balance so both made their living over how many years. Why does anyone think we know all the answers? Can we discuss the right issue rather than simply kill wolves because they are wolves? I'm an ecologist and have the degree. I would like a complete story and not one that says I'm paying to put meat on someone's table without them paying for it. Now that says something some could relate to. I don't particularly like Wolves and Moose are just big ugly deer to me. But I'd like to know both will still be here after you and I depart this place. Is that too much to ask? Maybe we should learn to eat mice they seem to do well no matter what we do to them.

She was in the wrong place at the right time and there is nothing anyone can do about that now. If shooting any and all wolves is what is being called for, then by all means shoot them all and let God sort them out. Collars or not. I just wish our gov'ment would do the same to the low life predators of women that seems to have broken out across this country lately. Why is it some rapist murder get's free room and board paid for by my hardworking self...and some critter thats just doing what they've been doing for eons gets a bullet upside the head?

We're shooting the wrong targets! Spare the wolves...shoot the damn rapist/murderers!
I am in 100% agreement with this statement. It is senseless to go shooting wolves, or any wild animals, for simply being wild animals. The biggest threats to mankind are the two legged predators, and they come in a lot of unsavory flavors.

What kind of "training collar" are you talking about? I hope it's not a shock collar. Positive reinforcement, not punishment, is the best training method with dogs.
