A few years back, there was a guy on the usenet group alt.culture.alaska that did something called "Gruffy's Feedback" which was a great informal guide to Alaska Restaurants. By any bizzare change, Gruffy do you watch this group?

Too bad there's no Krispy Kreme along the Alcan! I'd be making the drive a lot more often!

There's a Krispy Kreme right off of I-5 between Seattle and Bellingham. One time coming through we bought 10 dozen. I'm sad to report they only made it as far as Watson Lake...

One thing Canada had right was that they sold Mocha's and Latte's in McDonald's way before the states had them. Great coffee. The only time I go to their chains is for an Egg McMuffin and coffee in the mornings.

I should have printed this list when we drove down. For those of you traveling on the Alcan, print this list. There are some terrible places to eat along the route..

Don't remember the name of the place but its in Lake Watson, its a cafe attached to a hotel and the place is yellow. The sign says coffee house on it as well. DO NOT EAT THERE. It is completely awful and possibly worse food I was ever served. We didn't touch it and returned it since the eggs were cooked wrong, the sausage was raw and the hashbrowns were like wet noodles. We got charged for two cups of coffee and 75% of our bill. We also overheard the cook in the back saying that all the food was cooked perfectly.

Use this list if you are traveling.

When we stopped over in Watson Lake, we asked the owner of the Air Force Lodge for a recommendation of a good place to eat. He said Whitehorse.
