Where'd you get that little ditty anyway? Is it related to the "fishing for chicken" guy or something you made up or what? I'd hate to think I was missing out on some sort of secret Alaskan Monty-Python type gratituitous reference goldmine.
That came from an old time roughneck, that no longer graces us with his presence. We were slinging iron one night out at the Swanson River Feild in the wind and rain. This old man was the hardest working non-stop funny guy. It was a miserable night. And that phrase kept me going all night. I went straight home and taught it to the kids.

Rest in Peace Wild Bill...

Hmmm. Well, there's "North to Alaska", by Johnny Horton....one of my all-time favorites. That man had one heck of a voice...
And here's a new one that might catch on: Lacy J. Dalton - The Alaska Song (Under the Midnight Sun)

Ok, this thread wasn't locked to us gals, was it?

I'm just curious, why does it seem as if all the men from Alaska (on this forum) from the southern/southeast parts? Now, don't go on about "no people living in the other parts"

P.S. I'm listening to this The Alaska Song...Is there by any chance a longer version of it? This "I'm going to Alaska", and then tuning out is getting somewhat...well...What happens then??

Put the pink Flamingoes on some mountain top. That'll get some funny looks.

Didn't make up Hobo Jim. He's a real living breathing folk artist here. Lives down in Seward I think, but he's an old sourdough kind of a guy. Writes songs about Alaska living, and entertains in bars throughout south central AK. Even plays at schools.
