This is is local radio station where I heard about that job fair:
650 KENI - Anchorage. Talk. Radio
They do a little jobs update every so often, so they might know if any future ones are coming up. I would think this is the best way to find one of those fishing jobs. I heard that there were 400 openings at that job fair, and they were basically hiring people on the spot. Might be worth giving them a call now to see if there are still any openings left.

If you want to learn about the water, join the Navy or the Coast Guard for a four year enlistment. The Coast Guard has bases all over Coastal Alaska and you can find work in the marine industry after you get out. You would learn a skill and get paid for it, not to mention travel a lot.
