Do you ever see browns or blacks in or around Wasilla?

I haven't seen any yet. I have seen fresh skat and tracks in the Hatcher Pass area while hiking up along the Little Su and Gold Mint Trail.

Where you are they will be very rare...but in the spring you never know where a brownie might happen to wander. Except for around the edges of the mountains bears are pretty rare in the core area of the Palmer/Wasilla area. The valley is different from Anchorage. If a bear wanders into a subdivision here...it very rarely wanders out.....they learn.

They are known to enjoy the occasional Chihuahua.

Her dog is 20 pounds. Funny thing though, I was out walking along the beach up here on the North Slope with the dog and an owl attacked the little guy.

I just read on AOD that a brownie was taken this past weekend up around hatcher pass. So I guess the brown and fuzzies are starting to wake up around the valley.

There are more bears than people realize right along Baldy Mountain and Hatchers Pass.
