If you get a federal job in Alaska, you could be eligible for a COLA - cost of living allowance, upwards of 25% of your pay.

Thanks Minuteman I knew it was true!!!

Wonder what map Homer was using?
Can this be found in The Milepost?
Maybe that's why it costs about 30 bucks.
It has the secret map to the Happy Alaskan Financial Hunting Ground.
(note to self...get issue of the Milepost)

Who purchased Alaska from Russia, the citizens or the Federal Government?
The Federal Government purchased Alaska so anything there belongs to the citizens of the United States

You are right until Alaska became a state 51 years ago. There begins state rights vs. federal rights. The State of Alaska is the governing body that provides this privilege to the citizens of this state alone, not some lower 48junky. If you want a part of the Alaskan $, come and partake in all of the trial and tribulations that true Alaskan's thrive under.

LOL.....wait until we get one of our really bad icy, snowy winters...with the darkness and fog which is a given...oh wait, we get those kind of winters every year.

Oops....I forgot the freezing rain with ice coated streets and highways...Now ya all enjoy all that free money you think you'll have if you move here.

So you think you have a right to part of the PFD? File a class action lawsuit then and see how far that gets ya.

I don't get the PFD myself anymore; I'm out of state during the winter too much. I suppose I could be eligible but wth, I don't care much.
